The Internal

  • Shy 2004My first experiment with animation, as I saw my shadow cast across a beach near Seoul, Korea, during the first touches of spring, I became aware of the realities of culture shock. I had left my past behind and was becoming more deeply aware of the self. The sand featured is actually from the beach. This was the first of a still unfinished series of animations that get more and more informed by psychoanalytic theory And deeper conceptually.
  • Need 2008Around 2008 I became interested in Art Psychotherapy, which led me to read 'Man and His Symbols' By Carl Jung this was a real game changer for me - a mind blowing book. So I thought Id make a sequel to 'Shy' 2004 more informed and 4 years deeper.
  • Blocks 2009Diagonally down from Need.
  • Emergence 2011'Emergence' was to be a fine tuning of my creative voice, a sequel to Blocks, Need and Shy, a step up creatively and conceptually.
  • Web 2012 - Contains many themes inspired from a retreat with an old and dieing Jungian psychologist. Its where I was heading 8 years previously with Shy 2004. I do feel there is at least one more film of this genre inside to make a cubic 6.

The External

  • New Eyes Seoul 2004When I first went abroad to teach English in 2003 I made this film as a reaction to my reaction to my new surroundings.
  • Organic 2007an Eco art film shot in south korea a meditation on artificiality, nature, time and how all three concepts interconnect. Think I was interested in shamanism and the science of bio mimicry at the time and what constitutes the natural.
  • Change 2009Shot through the summer and the winter, then spliced together, a walk through Namsan Mountain and Myeong Dong Hi street in Seoul interspersed with some symbolic imagery.
  • Butterflies in Cambodia 2010a moving photograph, there are some moments simple photography can't capture.
  • The Shower 2010 - Features a poem by Jeremy Toombes
  • Stillness Cradles The Mind 2015Inspired from a satori I experienced meditating after a retreat watching white water rafters on the river Ganges in India.
